Love Working Here

Our culture
and values

We’re proud of cultivating a culture that puts the welfare of people first. We believe in the importance of building an inclusive and agile culture which encourages diverse perspectives and inspires people to make new possibilities happen. It underpins our strategy and the success of our business depends on it.

We're passionate about doing the right thing for our customers, people, communities and planet. Our values are simple but they run deep. They help guide how we work and what we look for in our people.

Brave

Make new possibilities happen

Encouraging bravery lies in making the fear of failure seem less daunting through cultural change. It's important to make being brave part of our shared culture. And it also helps if it's fun!

Caring

Act with empathy and respect

Being caring means more than just demonstrating empathy and respect towards others; it embodies the essence of a healthcare company like Bupa. Our commitment to care extends beyond mere obligation – it's at the heart of everything we do, making sure that everyone feels valued, supported, and respected.

Responsible

Own your decisions and actions

We own our decisions and stand up for what’s right for our customers, residents, patients and colleagues.

Employee
experience

We regularly listen to and act on what our amazing people tell us about working here. Some may say that listening is our superpower, which is why we are now considered 'World Class' when it comes to Employee Engagement.

We ask our people twice a year through a survey how they feel about working in all areas of the Bupa business.

The results put us in the top 10% of places to work, not just in the UK, but across the world!

Listening
to our people

Our approach to employee listening comes in different forms:

  • Biannual engagement survey - Every six months we capture how our people feel across the market unit.
  • Love working here network - We have engagement champions across each business unit ensuring a steady feedback loop on experience and initiatives to improve are cascaded to our frontline employees effectively.
  • Our Executive Advisory Committee (EAC) is a diverse group of 12 leaders from across Bupa who advise our executive team on key decisions. The EAC brings diverse perspectives to topics like engagement and people policies, ensuring we serve the needs of our people and customers.
  • Executive listening groups include digital or face-to-face roundtables and workshops between our senior leaders and our frontline employees.
